TCM Celebrates Judy Garland’s 90th Birthday
– Sunday, June 10
Judy's 90th

Everybody Sing
Judy with Allan Jones in “Everybody Sing”

TCM will dedicate 24 hours to celebrating the life and career of the one-and-only Judy Garland on the 90th anniversary of her birth as Frances Gumm in Grand Rapids, Mich. The celebration will include Garland’s most memorable performances, with each film hand-chosen by author and historian John Fricke (Judy Garland: By Myself, Judy: Beyond the Rainbow), widely acknowledged as the preeminent authority on Judy Garland, as well as The Wizard of Oz (1939). TCM’s tribute to Garland will include a special Essentials Jr. presentation of that timeless classic, preceded by the 1990 documentary The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: 50 Years of Magic. The day will also feature Garland in Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), Easter Parade (1948), A Star Is Born (1954) and her final film, I Could Go On Singing (1963). In addition, Garland stars opposite Mickey Rooney in Love Finds Andy Hardy (1938), Strike Up the Band (1940) and Girl Crazy (1943), and Gene Kelly in For Me and My Gal (1942) and Summer Stock (1950).

  1. Ya know…TCM needs to fact check their press releases…It’s not “Grand Rapid Mich” It’s Minnesota…oh well. No proof readers must have been avialable…

  2. I agree! I print the press releases as they’re sent to me, I don’t alter them (as some people do) aside from adding photos and other creative formatting things here on the blog.

  3. Went to visit Judy yesterday everyone’s flowers looked so beautiful. Hope to see her again before I die 🙂 love Jim Green -Melbourne, Australia.
