Yes!!!! Finally!!!
No mention of the Widescreen opening scene that was created for the That’s Entertainment Trilogy?
If you’re talking about the “Atchison” number as presented in “That’s Entertainment!” (the original from 1974), that faux widescreen effect was created by cropping off parts of the top and bottom of the image. The movie was not filmed in widescreen so no, there wouldn’t be any mention of that clip as presented in “That’s Entertainment!”
Well, Scott, you know how I feel! THG is my all-time fave, so this is fabulous news! I was always grateful that the DVD looks so good, although there are brief separation issues in the three-strip technicolor. Hopefully, those will be rectified.
Isn’t there a month of release announced?
Great news indeed. No month or day has been announced yet. As soon as I know, I’ll add it to this post. 🙂
Ordered both “The Pirate” and THG last week, and the latter arrived this morning!! Cannot wait to watch my all-time fave Garland movie tonight on Blu-ray! I was hoping that “My Intuition” and “March of the Doagies” would be in high def, but according to the (excellent) reviews, they are left in standard DVD format. Not a super biggie, but I will continue to pause and watch both numbers in their respective places, as I cannot bear the final cut (the only time the great Arthur Freed goofed). Thanks again, Scott, and have a safe holiday!!
Thank you, you have a wonderful and safe holiday as well!
